Accreditation is the third party attestation related to a conformity assessment body conveying the formal demonstration of its competence to carry out specific conformity assessment task. Conformity Assessment Body (CAB) is a body which includes Certification, Testing including medical Laboratory, Calibration Laboratory, Proficiency Testing Provider, Certified Reference Material Producer.

SAARC Expert Group on Accreditation (SEGA)

The SAARC-PTB Workshop on Accreditation held on 28-29 June 2010 at Kathmandu, Nepal recommended for establishment of an Expert Group of Accreditation bodies and nodal agencies dealing with accreditation of SAARC Member States to facilitate exchange of information and develop a framework for cooperation. Considering the Report of the Fourth SAARC-PTB Workshop on Accreditation, the Seventh Meeting of SAARC Standards Coordination Board (SSCB) held on 10-11 November 2010 at Kathmandu, Nepal approved the establishment of a ‘SAARC Expert Group on Accreditation (SEGA)’ to pursue the work relating to Accreditation in the region in collaboration with The Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB- Germany), under the SAARC-PTB MOU. The Secretariat of SARSO is given the responsibility of coordinating and facilitating the activities for this cooperation under the SAARC-PTB project.
